Applied Behavior Analaysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach used to understand and improve behavior. It uses the understanding of the way our minds work to look at our children’s behaviors not only as what it looks like, but at the reason why they have learned to act in that manner.
ABA therapists will guide our families to better understand how to figure out the function of their child’s behaviors. By understanding the whys of a child’s behavior, the therapist will work with the family to build a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to address those behaviors. The behavior plan will include skills to teach to replace problem behaviors, environment interventions and consistent responses to problem behaviors. ABA therapist will work with your child figuring out ways to implement learning experiences into day to day activities so that your child can implement the skills they are learning into their natural environment.
Consistent ABA therapy encourages our children to use communication skills, social behaviors and daily living functions, in a reinforcing manner, so that problem behaviors are replaced with expected behavior. Families are empowered to preact rather than react to difficult situations, bringing a sense of calmness and joy to a previous overwhelming experience.
